| | Model of the car: | Mazda MPV | | | General comments: | 1996 Mazda MPV LX, 2 wheel drive. Bought in 1999 with 54,000 miles
on it, after 1st owners 3 year lease ended. It currently has 126,000
miles. Overall this has been a very good vehicle. Seems to be very
well made, fit and finish are excellent. It has been very reliable. At about
105,000 miles we spent about $1,000 to have the timing belt and water
pump replaced, fuel injecters cleaned, cooling system flushed and other
minor things. Since then we have only put front brake pads, new tires
and a battery in it. I like the fact that it has normal car doors and not
a sliding door like other mini vans. The new model does have the
sliding door.
It handles pretty good as long as you remember that it is a minivan.
With 3,700 pounds you better not go around corners too fast! The
brakes are very strong. The biggest weak point is gas mileage. I
average about 18 mpg, which I consider too low for a minivan. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Poor gas mileage. | | | Previous car: | This is the only minivan I have ever owned. |
